RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. You can usually treat a sore hip at home with the RICE method:
Rest
Stop the physical activity that caused your sore hips to avoid making the injury worse.
Ice
Apply an ice pack or cold compress to your sore hip for 10 to 15 minutes every hour for the first day after your injury. After one day, reduce to every three to four hours. Do not apply ice directly to your skin (wrap the ice pack in a towel or washcloth). Heat can also be effective to relieve pain and prepare your muscles for light stretching exercises.
